Maybe rules put more emPhasis oN the journey (challenge) than The end result ( (winning)?
I think so, Carolyn. I also think certain rules (especially grammatical rules, punctuation rules and the like) give consistency to writing, thereby raising the overall quality of what you’re reading. Rules work when they set standards.
